Rising Hope Foundation Cameroon, in collaboration with the Young African Innovation Hub (Founder Melchizedek Victor), has launched a program supported by the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust for 12 students and entrepreneurs in Cameroon and Nigeria. During this program, they will gain professional work experience, expand or create startups, and prepare for future careers. Through this program, participants will build professional skills through various learning workshops and collaborate with business professionals who serve as mentors.
There are currently 15 mentees/students enrolled from both Cameroon and Nigeria.
Our initiative aims to develop the skills of youths in Africa. Our mission is to raise and empower lives within the continent by August 2024 through the establishment of a Virtual Digital and Entrepreneurship Skill Acquisition.
According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the number of unemployed people in 2023 is projected to reach 5.6 million in Nigeria, an increase of 1.5 million since 2021. Similarly, the youth unemployment rate is reported to be 6.9% in Nigeria and 7.0% in Cameroon.
The project aims to address the lack of proper training opportunities for youths in Africa. It involves setting up a Virtual Digital and Entrepreneurship Skill Acquisition Project for young Nigerians and Cameroonians, offering skill sets, mentorship, work experience, and funding opportunities for small businesses.
This program, which will run for nine (9) months with no more than 20 students, will follow different phases as described below:
